SAFE SPORTS ENVIRONMENT HOCKEY CLUB
HC 'S-HERTOGENBOSCH
At Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch, we believe it's important that everyone can play sports safely and enjoyably. Therefore, we strive to create a safe sports environment, both for and with each other. Therefore, there's no place for inappropriate behavior within our club. We have an open culture, which allows us to speak up if someone does behave in an inappropriate manner. How do we minimize the risk of inappropriate behavior? We try to do this in the following ways:
- Hiring policy
- Check references
- Code of Conduct for Team Guidance
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Vertrouwenscontactpersoon
- Disciplinary Committee
- Gedragsregels Hockeyclub ’s-Hertogenbosch
- Code of Conduct for Sexual Harassment in Sports (NOC*NSF/KNHB)
1. Recruitment policy
As an association, we believe it's important which people we hire. Our hiring policy consists of three components, which are explained in more detail below.
a. Check references
Before new coaches, trainers, managers, and volunteers take up a position at Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch, they have an intake interview and, if available, references are checked with their former club. This helps determine if anything happened that led them to leave. This could even be something minor that didn't lead to a conviction or a criminal record, but is still important to know.
b. Code of Conduct for Team Guidance
All coaches, trainers, managers, and/or volunteers involved in any way with (the supervision of) a team will adhere to the Team Supervision Code of Conduct. The Team Supervision Code of Conduct was created to demonstrate how we interact with each other at Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch. The Team Supervision Code of Conduct applies to and will be sent and/or distributed to coaches, trainers, managers, and/or volunteers. This clarifies that we adhere to certain norms and values and treat each other with respect at Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch.
Code of Conduct Team Guidance:
- I serve and act in the service of the team and the association.
- Ik ga respectvol met spelers, scheidsrechters en betrokkenen om.
- We have at least two adults involved in a (youth) team, so that the players have two points of contact (e.g. trainer and coach, coach and manager).
- I share my vision and insights with the other team leader(s).
- If necessary, I will personally address a player in full view of the team or other members.
- My language is positive, constructive and focuses on what can be done.
- If I suspect that another team leader has been treated unfairly, I will share this with a coordinator/confidential contact person.
- To solve problems, I use the following steps, acting as transparently as possible:
- discuss with the player (ask what happened)
- discuss with your fellow team leader and player
- discuss with the team (after player permission)
- discuss with line coordinator/confidential contact person
c. Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG)
The Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is free for volunteers. For paid staff, the cost of the VOG is the responsibility of the individual, unless otherwise agreed. If the individual does not receive a VOG from the Ministry or refuses to apply for one, they will not be hired or will be dismissed.
A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) will be requested from the following persons in any case:
- Trainers, coaches and managers over the age of 16, of youth and G-teams;
- Management;
- Confidential contact person;
- People over 16 years of age who often work behind the bar;
- Persons in committees over the age of 16 who come into contact with minors and/or (mentally) disabled persons.
Term of Certificate of Good Conduct
A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is not valid indefinitely. Therefore, a new VOG must be requested every three years. Even if someone has been inactive for our association for a longer period (more than one year), a new VOG must be requested.
Administration VOG
The secretariat of Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch sends the details of the coach, trainer, manager, and/or volunteer to Justis.nl. They contact the individual and send them the Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). The coach, trainer, manager, and/or volunteer then sends the VOG to the secretariat, which processes it. In LISA, the individual is indicated as having a VOG, with a link to it.
2. Confidential contact person
At Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch, we believe it's important that everyone feels safe. That's why we have a confidential advisor. This person is independent and not a board member.
You can contact the confidential advisor to discuss unpleasant and undesirable matters (such as bullying, (sexual) harassment, discrimination and/or inappropriate behavior) within our club.
Conversations with the confidential advisor are confidential. No one will be informed of these conversations without the person involved's consent or prior knowledge. We adhere to the Socially Safe Sports Environment Protocol regarding Transgressive Behavior, which can be found on the KNHB website.
The confidential advisor can be reached by email: vcp@hcdenbosch.nl.
You can find more information about our confidential advisor on our website.
3. Disciplinary Committee
Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch has a disciplinary committee. It has (at least) the following duties and powers:
- The disciplinary committee ensures that players, coaches, parents, trainers, and members behave in accordance with the rules on and around the hockey field and the complex of Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch.
- The disciplinary committee can impose sanctions on players, coaches, parents, trainers and other members.
- The disciplinary committee maintains contact with the KNHB disciplinary department, unless the KNHB disciplinary regulations determine that the board has jurisdiction in that specific case.
- The disciplinary committee monitors the KNHB's registration of yellow and/or red cards issued to players, coaches, and other (official) supervisors, and the administrative processing thereof and any suspensions reported to KNHB.
- The disciplinary committee assesses and punishes members and/or coaches in the event of a red card, pending disciplinary proceedings with the KNHB. If a youth member receives a red card, the KNHB expects the disciplinary committee to assess the case and impose a sanction from the club.
- The disciplinary committee will conduct a written and/or oral hearing and assess the actions and circumstances that led to the red card. The disciplinary committee is authorized to impose a penalty on the player(s), coach(es), or supervisor(s) involved on behalf of Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch. The penalty imposed is binding and separate from the penalty imposed by the KNHB, which in practice does take into account the club's penalty and often deducts it from the number of matches for which a member is suspended by the KNHB to prevent cumulative penalties.
- If a player, coach, or supervisor repeatedly receives a yellow card for certain behavior, the disciplinary committee can also speak with that person to determine the reason for this behavior.
4. Code of Conduct of Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch
At Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch, all stakeholders, including players, coaches, parents, trainers, other members, volunteers, and visitors, are expected to adhere to our code of conduct, both on and off the playing field at our own sports grounds, as well as on the grounds of other clubs, both domestically and internationally. 5. Code of Conduct for Sexual Harassment in Sports (NOC*NSF/KNHB)
NOC*NSF has established a number of codes of conduct to prevent sexual harassment in sports. These codes of conduct are important for everyone who participates in sports. They are primarily intended to provide guidance to all supervisors of athletes and sports activities regarding what behavior is and is not permitted. The codes of conduct were adopted on May 20, 1997, by the NOC*NSF General Meeting. The KNHB (Royal Dutch Hockey Federation) is a member of NOC*NSF. Hockey Club 's-Hertogenbosch is a member of the KNHB. Therefore, the codes of conduct also apply to relationships within hockey between athletes, between staff, and between athletes and staff.
The Code of Conduct for Sexual Harassment in Sports can be found on this website.
